Hello, I am Luca
Role: project manager. a parent. An expat residing in Milan, Italy.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t in the plan for the long term. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Pixel Softly Tinker
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from residing in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A guide resource for tourism
- Paid review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we come across.
If you have questions about family life in Milan or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Luca
